Turning, forging or cold heading.

Use special round nut wrench (hook wrench or pin wrench) to align the groove to loosen. If there is no special tool, use an adjustable wrench or pipe wrench to tighten the outer edge and twist it; if the nut is rusty, spray loosening agent first, and if it is stubborn, use a punch against the edge and hammer it counterclockwise to knock it loose. In extreme cases, the nut can be cut by angle grinder or destroyed by electric drill.

Round nuts are designed with anti-loosening slots or with lock washers, pins, etc. to prevent loosening.

They can be reused, but the threads need to be checked for wear or deformation.

316 has better corrosion resistance for marine environments, 304 offers better cost performance for general use.
