Copper Nut Explained

When discussing nuts, we typically first consider their structural variations—such as hex nuts, round nuts, cap nuts, flange nuts, square nuts, lock nuts, slotted nuts, and T-nuts—before mentioning materials like stainless steel or carbon steel. However, there is one type of nut where the material is the primary point of inquiry: the copper nut.

What are copper nuts?

What Is a Copper Nut?

A copper nut, also known as a pre-embedded nut or plastic-embedded nut, is a specialized fastener made from high-quality copper or copper alloys (such as H59, H62). Depending on the application method, they can be categorized into hot-melt copper nuts, hot-press copper nuts, embedded copper nuts, and ultrasonic copper nuts.

Common Materials for Copper Nuts

  • Brass: H59 / H62
  • Lead Brass: HPb59-1
  • Copper Alloys: C3604, C2700, C2720
  • Tin Bronze / Aluminum Bronze

Standards and Specifications for Copper Nuts

Characteristics of Copper Nuts

Copper nuts have many outstanding features: they are not easy to rust, are corrosion resistant, have high temperature resistance, are thermally and electrically conductive, are easy to process, have a stable structure, are aesthetically pleasing, and can also be injection molded. They can also be injection molded. They are widely used in faucets, valves, electrical switches, and mold injection molding.

What Types of Copper Nuts Are There?

Depending on the specific application, we will specify the type of copper nut required, such as standard hex copper nuts or embedded knurled copper nuts for injection molding. Copper nuts are categorized into three types based on their application: copper nuts for machine screws, copper nuts for set screws, and copper nuts for special-purpose screws.

Machine screws are the screws and bolts we commonly use. They have a head and a shank, such as hex bolts. They can be used with nuts or without nuts. The copper nuts used on these screws are no different from nuts made of other materials used in our regular applications.

Copper nuts for set screws are designed to be used in conjunction with set screws to secure the relative positions of two workpieces.

Copper nuts designed for use with special-purpose screws, such as nuts for eye bolts, high-strength self-locking copper nuts, and nylon self-locking copper nuts.

The applications of copper nuts extend beyond embedded nuts used in mold injection molding. Other types of copper nuts serve as standard nuts, differing only in their copper composition.

Beyond Fastener offers a full range of metric and imperial copper nuts, including hex nuts, lock nuts, flange nuts, wing nuts, cap nuts, square nuts, and custom copper nuts. We are a leading manufacturer, supplier, and exporter of copper and bronze nuts in China.
