DIN 938 studs have a fixing thread on one end and a nut thread on the other. The fixed end (b1) is screwed into the pre-tapped internal threaded hole, and the exposed other end (b2) is used to install the nut. In DIN 938, the dimensioning format is d × l, where d is the nominal diameter and l is the nominal length (excluding the thread length of the fixed end b1).
Example: DIN 938 stud of M11 × 60 means the diameter is 11mm, the nominal length is 60mm, the fixed end b1 has another length specified by the standard, and the total length of the stud = l + b1.
